Adding an existing video from your camera roll to your WhatsApp status is simple.

All you have to do is to go to the status tab and add the video to your status from your camera roll.

However, if you want to set a YouTube video as your WhatsApp status, there are some additional steps that you need to take.

The challenge is that you won’t be able to add a YouTube video directly from YouTube to your WhatsApp status.

This is because there isn’t a feature for that.

If a YouTube video is not on your camera roll, you have to download and save it first.

Then you can set it as your WhatsApp status by selecting the video in your camera roll.

In this article, you’ll learn how to set a YouTube video as your WhatsApp status in 3 easy steps.

To set a YouTube video as your WhatsApp status, you need to copy the video’s link, download the video online, then set the video as your status by selecting it in your camera roll.

WhatsApp only allows you to set a video status of an existing video in your camera roll.

If the video that you want to set as your WhatsApp status is from somewhere else (e.g., YouTube, Vimeo), you’ll have to download the video and save it to your camera roll first.

Otherwise, you won’t be able to set the video as your status because there isn’t a feature for it.

Once you’ve saved the video in your camera roll, then you can add it to your status via “Add to my status”.

Here’s how to set a YouTube video as your WhatsApp status:

1. Step #1: Copy the video’s link
2. Step #2: Download the video online
3. Step #3: Set the video as your status

Step #1: Copy the video’s link

To begin with, open YouTube and go to the video that you want to set as your WhatsApp status.

The video can be of any duration—5 min, 30 min, or 45 min.

However, it’s worth noting that when you add the video to your WhatsApp status, it will be trimmed to 30 seconds.

Moreover, longer videos will take a longer time to download, and they’ll take up a lot of storage space.

Hence, you’re better off downloading a shorter video (e.g. 3 min) instead of a longer one (e.g. 30 min).

Once you’re on the video, tap on the share icon (next to the dislike button).

After you’ve tapped on the share icon, you’ll have multiple sharing options to choose from—Copy Link, Twitter, WhatsApp, etc.

The option that you want to select is “Copy Link” as you need to video’s link in the next step.

Though there’s a “WhatsApp” option, you don’t want to be using it because that’ll share the video directly on WhatsApp and not on your status.

Tap on “Copy Link” to copy the video’s link.

You’ve successfully copied the video’s link to your clipboard.

In the next step, you’ll be using the link to download the video and save it to your camera roll.

Step #2: Download the video online

After you’ve copied the video’s link in the previous step, you need to download the video and save it to your camera roll.

There are multiple ways that you can do this.

One of them is to download the video using an online tool like SaveFrom.net.

Using an online tool is the easiest way to download a YouTube video to your phone.

Firstly, search for “Online Video Converter” on YouTube and click on the first result.

Alternatively, you can visit the tool’s website at SaveFrom.net.

Once you’re on the website, tap on the empty field, and tap on “Paste” to paste the video’s link.

After you’ve pasted the video’s link, tap on the right-arrow icon to begin processing the video.

When the video is finished processing, a download button will appear below it.

Tap on the download button to download the video with the current quality.

Once the video is downloaded, you need to save it to your camera roll.

In order to do so, navigate to your downloads (for iOS devices, your downloads are located at the top navigation bar) and tap on the video.

On the bottom navigation bar, tap on the share icon, scroll down and tap on “Save Video” to save the video to your camera roll.

You’ve successfully downloaded and saved the video to your camera roll.

In the final step, you’ll learn how to set the YouTube video as your WhatsApp status.

Step #3: Set the video as your status

Once you’ve saved the YouTube video to your camera roll from the previous step, you can finally set it as your WhatsApp status.

Firstly, open WhatsApp and tap on the “Status” iconon the bottom navigation bar.

Next, tap on the “Add to my status” button or the camera icon.

After doing so, your camera will be opened.

On your camera, tap on the photo icon on the bottom left of your screen.

Then, select the video that you’ve just downloaded from the previous step.

On WhatsApp, the maximum duration you can set for a video is 30 seconds.

If the video is more than 30 seconds long, WhatsApp will automatically trim it to play the first 30 seconds of it.

You can adjust the start of the trim by dragging the arrow icons left and right.

Once you’re done selecting the start of the trim, add a caption to the video (optional), then tap on the arrow icon to add it to your status.

Congrats, you’ve successfully set a YouTube video as your WhatsApp status.

Now, your friends and family will be able to view it on the “Status” tab.

How do you copy a YouTube link?

To copy a YouTube link, open YouTube, and navigate to the video that you want to share.

Once you’re on the video, there’ll be a share icon next to the dislike button.

Tap on the share icon, then tap on “Copy link” to copy the video’s link.

Now that the link of the video is on your clipboard, you can paste it and send it to others.

Can I monetize WhatsApp status videos on YouTube?

Yes, you can monetize WhatsApp status videos on YouTube if it isn’t copyrighted.

If the video is copyrighted (e.g. contains copyrighted music), it cannot be monetized.

In fact, you can monetize videos with content that is royalty-free or contain Creative Commonscontent.

As long as you have the proper rights to use the content, you can monetize it on YouTube.
