You can absolutely fix iPhone ghost touching. However, while some fixes are easy and can be done in seconds, others will require making changes to the software, which can take some time.

In the worst-case scenario, you may be dealing with a hardware problem. These can also be fixed, but you will have to hand that task to somebody else.

What Are the Fixes For the Ghost Touch Problem?

Well, to get your iPhone screen back to working as normal, you can try out any of these to fix ghost touch issues. They range from the simplest to the more intensive methods. Let's get started.

1. Clean the Screen

Due to how sensitive displays are, it is important to keep them as clean as you can for optimal functioning.

If your screen has oil or dust, you can use a microfiber cloth to clean it. Ensure that the iPhone screen is off and wipe in straight lines from one end to the other for optimal results.

If there are traces of liquid that have dried and formed residue on the iPhone screen, you will need to be more thorough with the cleaning. You can use a microfiber cloth that is lightly dampened with warm water.

When using a damp cloth to clean your screen, it is best to turn off the iPhone. If your ghost touch issue is severe though, you may not be able to do this. In these cases, just lock the screen and unplug any accessories.

It may be tempting to use cleaning solutions, but you need to be careful as they can damage the special coating on the screen. If you have an iPhone 11 or 12 series device, use warm, soapy water for more stubborn residue. Apple does not advise using soapy water on the other models.

• On the iPhone X series and newer: Hold the power button down along with any of the two volume buttons. Pull the slider that shows up and wait for the phone to shut down. Once it has done this, turn it back on by holding down the power button until the Apple logo appears.

• On the iPhone 6, 7, and 8 series, and second-gen SE: Hold down the power button until the slider appears. Drag it as indicated and wait for the phone to switch off. Once off, press down the same button until the Apple logo appears.

• On the iPhone 8 series and newer, including the second-gen SE: In quick succession, press and let go of volume up, then volume down, then hold down the power button. Don't drag the slider if shows. Keep the button held until the Apple logo appears.

• On the iPhone 7: Hold the power button and volume down button until the Apple logo appears.

• On the iPhone 6 series and earlier, including the first-gen SE: Hold down the Home button along with the power button. Do this until the Apple logo appears.

5. Update the Operating System

It is recommended that you keep your operating system up to date at all times. This is one of the ways you can fix the ghost touch on iPhone problem that you might be facing.

Before updating your iPhone, make a backup with any of the three methods that Apple provides.

To update iOS on your iPhone, just follow these steps:

1. Go to the settings on your iPhone
2. Select "General"
3. Here, near the top, should be a "Software Update" option. Tap on that
4. If a software update is available, you should see an "Install Now" or "Download and Install" button, which you should press to get started.

6. Factory Reset the iPhone

Performing a factory reset will result in all the settings and data on the iPhone being lost, so ensure that you have a backup ready.

To factory reset your iPhone, go along with this procedure below:

1. Go to "Settings", then "General"
2. Tap "Reset"
3. You will need to enter your passcode
4. Tap "Erase All Content and Settings" to factory reset the iPhone.

If your iPhone ghost touching is so severe that you can't go through the menu on the phone, you can use a computer for the settings reset instead.
