Facebook provides calendar feeds for Upcoming Events and Birthdays, which you can subscribe to in BusyCal, as follows.
Go to this page in a browser:
//www.facebook.com/events/upcoming
On the bottom of the sidebar on the right, you'll find two links -- one for Upcoming Events and another for Birthdays. Control-click on one of these links and choose Copy Link.
In BusyCal, select File > New Calendar Subscription, then paste the URL into the Calendar URL field and click Subscribe.
When I first taught school, I never needed a calendar. I just remembered every meeting, appointment and event by heart.
Until I got pregnant–then I had to buy a day planner. Well, thank goodness I don’t have to lug that thing around anymore. But now, the problem is that there are calendars everywhere, google, Facebook, my iPhone– oh my! Google’s made it pretty easy to sync up your calendars, but it still takes a trick or two with Facebook.
Login to your Facebook account, (as if you ever logged out, heh) and click Events:
Click the magnifying glass in the top right corner:
A Menu will Drop Down. Choose Export Events:
Copy the URL that appears in the pop up box to your clipboard:
Email that link to yourself. Check your email from your phone and click the link.
A window will pop up on your phone. Click Subscribe:
Another window will pop up after that. You can choose to view your events or cancel and go to your calendar the regular way:
If for some reason this hides all the other calendars on your iPhone, there’s an easy fix. (It did this on my husband’s phone, but not on mine.) Go to your calendar app on your iPhone and click calendars in the top lefthand corner:
Make sure there’s a checkmark next to all the calendars you want viewable:
Now you have all your Facebook events right there on your calendar! (I also did the same thing on iCal for my Mac– that way I always have those events in the calendar programs I use every day.) Hope this helps!
Facebook Events are a great way to keep track of what’s going on in the world around you, including upcoming concerts, community functions, birthdays, and more. You can easily add these Facebook Events to your iPhone calendar and remove them if you change your mind. This brief tutorial shows you how to do that.
To add events from your Facebook calendar to your iPhone or iPad, open the Facebook app and follow these steps:
1) Tap the menu button (three lines) on the bottom right corner and select Events.
2) Select the event to view its details and tap the three dots icon below its name.
3) Pick Add to Calendar.
4) Choose the calendar from the list of those in your Calendar app.
You’ll see a pop-up message confirming that the event was added to your iPhone Calendar.
How to delete Facebook events from iPhone calendar
To remove an event you’ve added from Facebook, open the Calendar app on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac and simply delete the event like any other.
On iPhone or iPad, tap the List view button at the top. Then either select the event or press and hold to bring up the shortcut menu. Tap Delete Event. Once you delete the event from one device, it’s removed from all your Apple devices having the same Apple ID.
On Mac, right-click or hold Control and click the event. Select Delete.
If you don’t check into Facebook regularly, adding events you find there to your iPhone Calendar gives you a way to remember them. And it’s easy enough to both add and remove Facebook events from your devices.
