How do I share in a group as my business page?

Facebook allows you to create your own private groups online. In a private group, any Facebook member can request to be added as a member to the group. Only members will be able to view the posts created on the private group page. If you have a business page on Facebook, you can invite the members of the page to join your private group, which can work as a community alongside the Facebook page.

  1. Log in to your Facebook account and click “Groups” from the menu on the left. You will see a list of groups you are currently a part of.

  2. Click the “+ Create Group” button in the top right corner.

  3. Type a name for your group in the Group Name text box.

  4. Type the name of friends you would like to invite to the group in the Members box. You must add at least one member to the group.

  5. Select “Closed” from the Privacy drop-down menu to create a private group.

  6. Click the “Create” button to create your new private group. Facebook will take you to the group page and automatically add the members to the group.

  7. Return to the Facebook business page and post a link to your group in the comments section. This allows members of the page to access the group and request membership. You will have to approve their membership to the group before they can view the posts created within the group.

Utterly annoying.

Funnily enough, about two weeks ago I was doing something on FB - nothing out of the ordinary - when I was asked out of the blue if I "wanted to interact with this group as your business page." Never having seen this before I clicked "Yes" and, sure as shit, since then whenever I post something in that group it's as my business account, whereas before (and with other groups I'm a member of) I'm still forced to post as my personal account. No idea how I did it (or even if I had anything to do with getting the offer) but it's ridiculous that this isn't an option on all groups when joining.

Of course, Facebook still doesn't allow for italics or bold or underlining in a post either soooooo... not too suprising. Too busy stealing as much data as they can over making their crap better.

How do I share in a group as my business page?

Facebook groups are part of the day-to-day activity of Facebook users, and in terms of marketing, they present great potential for businesses. Anyone can join a group with a personal profile, but it is also possible to join a group as a Facebook page.

If you want to become a member of a specific group with your Facebook page, the process is very simple. First, you need to find a group that interests you. Then click the “Join Group” button to choose if you want to become a member with your personal profile or Facebook page.

If it is not possible to apply for group membership with a Facebook page, this means that group administrators do not allow this option, or that you don’t have this feature activated for now.

Conversely, if you own a Facebook group and want to allow pages to join your community, the process is as follows:

1. Click the button… Others.
2. Select Edit Group Settings.
3. At the bottom of the settings you will find Site Membership Requests and you can decide if you will permit Facebook pages to join your group or if you won’t allow pages to request group membership. Existing pages in the group will remain, but can be deleted manually if needed; they will just no longer be able to be added.
